So I uploaded a questionnaire everywhere I could think of to gauge the general public’s opinion of radio stations with some quite intriguing results.
At first, while most people seem to prefer commercial radio stations over community radio stations, More than half the respondents said that they would be willing to donate to a community radio to support it. Now in these financially difficult times this surprised me, especially as so few people admitted to even listening to a community radio, it doesn’t make sense that those who don’t listen would be willing to give money. Also, more than half the respondents said that they would be willing to volunteer their time to work at a community radio, again with no apparent interest in listening to them.
While these results surprised me, the statistics have slowly come round to a trend that I was expecting and overall the public seem to be divided pretty equally in their opinions. Just over half the members of the general public now wouldn’t donate any money, and exactly half the respondents would volunteer their time.
However that unusual first round of results stumped me and was not what I was expecting at all. These findings could prove to be rather interesting come evaluation.

In my case its because I have friends who host shows on the university community radio, so I know that they need sponsorship pennies.
That’s true I never thought of that…
